I read through all the posts fairly often and I have to admit that I get very confused and do not understand what some of you better educated members are talking about when you create stuff on your own. I give you all the credit for being able to do that and admit to being envious of your abilities. I certainly appeciate anything I can learn and apply to I.H.’s and RTR. I certainly need members like you and I’m sure so does BrainBombers. This is my question: With all the High-Tech creations/improvements, why is BrainBombers and you Members not getting together to formalize this knowledge and apply it as Downloads for people like myself to use? I sure hope no one takes offence at this question. I really enjoy these two programs and spend a lot of time at them. Would you believe with my limited knowledge I do not even know how to use these Emoticons. Perhaps in the future my knowledge of computers will improve, however, it is hard to teach yourself something you do not know. Not that I want it difficult because I get great enjoyment out of what I’m doing now. I wonder how many other Members are in the same situation as me? By the way, when is someone going to perfect a good, usable, switching yard that can be incorporated in a layout as a Download? My best to all Members. Bruce December 9, 2006 at 3:43 am #1287AnonymousInactiveHi Bruce, I think you mean people like Chris and me. I can tell you, we’re working together with BrainBombers very close, otherwise it wouldn’t be possible to create all these new textures, models and tools. The release of all the new stuff is planned before Christmas.
And if you don’t understand something we’re talking about, there’s an easy way to change that: just ask.
😆 Best regards,
Willi
December 9, 2006 at 9:45 am #1288AnonymousInactiveBruce As I build alot of switching yards into my layouts. They become a center piece of my layouts each one is diferent in construction and in function.
The problem with building the yards is that the controllers that control the functions and the power supplies do not copy from one layout to another.
You end up building your layout around the yard and the beast is born.
if you could provide me with your ideas of the perfect yard that you would like i could build it for you and you could build your layout from that.
when and if I get the time I will start a tutorial on form and function of the various yards that I have built. Some of them use controller tracks to add functions to the movements of the trains. Some of them have the functions built right in and use timing and offsets to provide the functions of the yard.
Send your requests for yard work to
blazer9@hotmail.com with switching yard in the subject line. Happy Railroading

December 9, 2006 at 12:27 pm #1289AnonymousInactiveHi Bruce and Don, That´s the right way to change ideas. If i dont understand anything then i ask frankly for it and i´ll become the answer prompt.
Now brainbom also joined our (Willi´s) Forum and answering our questions there.(Because we´re ask directly for problems or ideas.) 💡 😉 💡 December 9, 2006 at 2:57 pm #1290AnonymousInactiveHi Bruce, A tips and tricks thread on this forum would be a nice idea. I believe something like that has been started on Willi’s forum.
But as already mentioned, just as a question or ask for greater detail if you’ve read something and need a helping hand. I’m sure you’d get a response.
Best regards, Chris
December 9, 2006 at 3:39 pm #1291AnonymousInactiveThanks Willi, Blazer9, Peter, and Chris for your fast reply. I will review all the posting and try to get back with some clear questions. My main problem is coordinating the timing of the Detach Switches and the speed of the loco. Eventually all the cars end up on the same line. Anyway, I appreciate your offer to help and I will be more forward in the future to ask for help. I’m sure there are others out there who, like myself , need it made simple and easy to use. Looking forward to Xmas delivery and I now know that you work with BB’ers. Thanks Guys December 9, 2006 at 4:27 pm #1292AnonymousInactiveHi Bruce, In Digiboards i always have that problem but in analoque i use a controlbox nearest the detachers to stop and detach or atach the loco and train
😉 But use id´s for main- and shuntlocos
December 9, 2006 at 5:14 pm #1293AnonymousInactivePeter, I checked the layout i’m working on for the yard controls. The controls are as close as I can get them to the detach switches.( short tracks). I use i.d’s in other situations but forgot them here. I’ll try them. I presently have only one engine working the yard. I’ll experimant with more than one. Thanks December 9, 2006 at 6:09 pm #1294AnonymousInactiveHi Bruce, The id´s only are needed if you use more than 1 loco and you´ve to select red or blue site of controlers. If you use Both sites for one effect then the operation will fail.
😉 December 11, 2006 at 4:25 am #1295AnonymousInactiveHi Bruce, Mate, you seem to be doing a lot better than I and, time is an issue when learning many progs. especially technical ones. You are definately not the only one.
Like you, I love RtR and I.H. and I think, with all the WISH LIST posts, they
deserve more money. My price for this magic software was so little that, I feel a little guilty for asking for things, like my strange requests.
Another strange idea of mine is, what about a kinda DONATION link or similar
so B.B’s could use at their discretion. eg. many jobless out there, also poor
and RICH. I think the wish list would get smaller if the experts could afford to make it so.
I would gladly slip a bit in to the LEGITIMATE link organised by them! Not much as, I am sorta in the first 2 eg.s
Weird eh…

❗ ❗ ❗ December 11, 2006 at 3:39 pm #1296AnonymousInactiveHello Unger. I Have no problem with the occasional donation. I do think that the people at BB’ers should be asked if this is what they would like to do. I’m not sure if it’s a money thing with them to get more equipment etc. I imagine it’s mostly brain work with the technology and knowledge they already possess. It is a good idea if they need help that way. BB’ers would have to be asked if they want to do this and then you would probably need to set up a POLL to see if members are in favour of donating what they can, (anonymously), then creating a link to send money to. I Know that members like Willie, Blazer9, Chris, Peter and many others ( sorry if I missed your names ) are big contributors of technology , so they should be included in this contribution Plan. Good to hear from you Unger. Till later, Smokey December 11, 2006 at 4:08 pm #1297AnonymousInactiveHi Bruce and Unger, I think of my texture contributions as a way of ‘donating’ to Brainbomb (and the user community) so I don’t need/want to be a factor in any potential ‘contribution’ plan.
I do think it’s a great idea that there be a donation link on the website. There have been significant enhancements to RtR since its inception (not to mention the fact that IH has been free to registered users). I would rather see this approach than a subscription fee or fee-based version upgrades although both of those are reasonable alternatives to keep the pizza and beer flowing.
I know I’ve never gotten this much bang for the entertainment buck elsewhere and I would like to see the game continue to evolve. Best regards, Chris
December 11, 2006 at 5:39 pm #1298AnonymousInactiveChris. I agree your contribution method is great. I think before this goes further, we should hear from BB’ers. Good idea, Unger, but if it,s OK with you we should wait. BB’ers keep current with what is posted and will see this idea and respond once they think it through. Smokey December 11, 2006 at 7:43 pm #1299AnonymousInactiveChris, I also agree with you,not to be a factor in any plans. But our contributions is the best way of donation,it´s equal new models, skins, technics to automate processes or bring in valid suggestions.
😉 💡 Everybody active here has a strong point to act here. If we add that points we have, then RTR and IH well be the evergreens.

I do this for the love of railroading and the practice of passing it on to younger people. DonR aka Blazer9
