Hi Maury,

I find, your ICE train looks great! Okay, the 3D models are not prototypicall, they are much too short. But that’s not your fault.

Is it right that the DB prohibited to use their logo? Is this even the case with freeware?

Keep on your nice work, I like it.

    Hi Maury,

That also was my idea,do you have that dds-file ready for me? Please…

Short or long, your first attempt is carriing fruits. Good beginning

    Hi Willi,

I´d see the pics in big and that logo is not DB,Maury used an 88 to respect the trademarks. This topic also will the right topic to introduce your work,if your work has been completed.

    :)

    PS:Maury,if you want,send me that dds to peteroptz@aol.com please,thanks

    Hi Willi and Peter

I have used a fictional logo why I do not know how putting the characters in the just way.

Example:if I put DB then appears in the other side of the loco or other carriage in incorrect way (as reflected in a mirror).

For this reason I have had to renounce to put a great ICE in gray… 😥

    Willi,Peter

Thanks for your comment 😉 😉

Peter now are on other pc tomorrow send to you the dds file 😉

    Hi Maury,

Yes, I know, Brainbombers often uses mirroring for textures 😥 . I have this problem with my first skinning, too.

So this was the reason for not using the original logo. I thought it was because of copyright issues. I seem to remember that DB doesn’t allow the use without licensing. But I think this isn’t true for freeware.

I’m looking forward to your next texture and hope Brainbombers will include your ICE in the next expansion pack.

    Kind regards,

    Willi

    Hi Willi

Thanks again but I do not know if my ICE is so good for a next one pack.

I am only an amateur. 😉

But maybe Brainbombers it could appreciate my idea for a new model.

    Hi Maury,

It’s great to see another contributor, yours and Willi’s work can only add greater pleasure for the entire community of RtR fans.

It looks to me like you’ve done a wonderful job. I look forward to your continued involvement!

If your paint program supports layers, might I suggest you consider using a base layer to add color and an additional layer for line details? The following images represent a time saving method to add new liveries to an existing RtR model.

    Base Layer

The base layer is the layer that receives the color of the livery you intend to model. This is the base layer of the Burlington Northern boxcar I just completed.

This layer is contained in every texturing effort. It is the ‘base’ layer because the line detail layer will be used to provide the illusion of color change as we ‘look’ through it to the base layer.

    Line Detail Layer

The line detail layer can remain unchanged for such models as the SD38 or S4. I do make some changes with these boxcars though from fairly subtle (placard holders on the doors) to larger changes like the movement of the doors on this boxcar off center.

Outside of the gradients, I use three different line shadings in this layer: white at 15% opacity for highlights, black at 15% opacity for ‘normal’ line drawing/light shadow, and black at 30-35% for heavier shadows.

Gradients range from white at 0% opacity to the heavier shadow setting.

    Combined

The two layers combined are my working template graphic file.

The line detail layer sits atop all other layers as it must modify the colors that show through it.

Details unique to the particular livery you are working from would sit between the base and line detail layers.

    I hope this technique helps.

    Best regards, Chris

    Hi Chris

Thanks for your comments and your aid to me. Many good!

    Thanks. 😉

In the next few days I go to begin a full period of work in my job in the real life and I will not have much time for the plans but I will try to make something.

    Thanks again

    Hi Maury,

I´d just reseice the dds and it´s showing up your skin. :D I´d backup the origin dds file, before i overwrite. Chris do it with longtime experience. If you exorsise and see your result then you´ll see yor works will be better and better. The ICE is the very good start allready. :) 😉
